Generational Roots,
Vision for the Future

“My 13 years of experience as a deputy circuit clerk bring a deep understanding of the responsibilities of the role. I believe this makes me the ideal candidate for
Jackson County Circuit Clerk in 2024.
I am not just a candidate. I will be a
trusted leader with deep generational roots in our county community.
I have a strong foundation in public service and I have a vision for the future of the Office of the Jackson County Circuit Clerk.”

Before embarking on his public service career in the mid-2000s, Christian accumulated over a decade of experience in the field of journalism, including his role as County Editor at the Murphysboro American newspaper. During this time, he gained valuable insights into the potency of effective communication and a deep understanding of the issues that hold significant importance to the residents of the county. These issues spanned from the Mississippi River valley in the west to the SIUC campus in Carbondale, Illinois, to the east. This experience equipped him with the necessary skills to bridge the divide between the legal system and the public it serves.

Connection to Community

Born in Murphysboro in the early 1970s, Christian attributes his strong work ethic, faith, and dedication to his parents. His father, Marvin, is a retired union coal miner who worked at Old Ben No. 24 in Benton, Illinois, and his mother, Debbie Jo, served as the former director of Cardio-Pulmonary at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

Christian also acknowledges the influence of his grandfather, Raymond Amschler, who was a long-time farmer, construction foreman, and a Korean War Navy veteran from Jacob, Illinois. His strong work ethic was instilled by his grandfather, while his grandmother, Beverly Amschler, kindled his interest in public service through stories about his Great Great Uncle Clarence Hart, who served as the Mayor of Murphysboro from 1943 to 1953.

Values Voters Count On

Drawing from 13 years of extensive experience in managing both civil and criminal clerk responsibilities, Christian is exceptionally qualified to lead the Office of the Jackson County Circuit Clerk with efficiency and effectiveness. His 13 years of dedicated service, coupled with a prior decade in the field of journalism, have cultivated a keen understanding of the office's unique needs and challenges. This insight positions him well to craft innovative solutions to address these challenges.
